The Realization Of Thankfulness

Updated: Nov 23, 2022

Thankfulness is often a realization isn’t it?

When you have a stuffy nose, you realize how amazing it really feels to breathe clearly.

When you’re kids are under the weather, you realize how much you’d rather deal with their naughty behaviour than to see them down and out.

When you can’t find work, you realize that your previous job wasn’t that bad.

When you squander your formal education, then you realize the privilege of being taught new things every day.

When you see others struggling to find their next meal, then you realize the food you just wasted could have been put to better use.

And this back and forth perspective of awareness, gratitude or lack thereof happens everywhere, everyday as the world turns.

So on days like today we celebrate Thanksgiving, a time of appreciation, thankfulness for all we have and for those around us. Today we are more aware and more cognizant of the beautiful things in us, with us and around us and that is special and certainly does call for celebration…

And yes I’m perfectly ok with the annual “Thanksgiving post” well wishes, announcements, events and turkeys as these create wonderful memories for me and my loved ones.

BUT…

Thanksgiving is not just a holiday. It’s a lifestyle.

There’s no doubt that today is special, but realizing that every day is special is on a whole other level.

After all, thankfulness is often a realization isn’t it? I hope we can all realize that today, tomorrow and forever.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. Love you all!
